Welcome to the Nunat Climate Observations Database
This database is for Villages to share information. That way Villages can learn from, and help each other. It is difficult for Alaska Villages to gather and share environmental observations. The Nunat on-line meeting shares and permanently records our observations on subsistence and other environmental changes. We all gain and build the knowledge on what to do for our communities.

What to share?
We ask for observations about recent events, and your seasonal and long-term experiences. We also hope to hear from our elders who have accumulated the oral history records of our lands for 1000's of years. This critical information gives us the context for what we are seeing, what we might see in the future, and how to adapt our subsistence practices.
What you enter will be recorded in a searchable database and available for everyone to see. After sharing your observation, you can sit down again and view others observations and experiences.We welcome you to share your observations, experiences, historical records, and stories.
You may use words, pictures, videos, and audio clips to help others understand your unique perspective.
Who should share?
All Alaska Village residents and Native Elders are invited to share their observations all the time. Our neighboring northern communities and First Nations outside Alaska are invited to this meeting as well, and have an open invitation to speak. The earth does not recognize borders. Knowledge does not stop at lines. It stops when it is not passed.Host a Nunat Community Meeting.

Why Was the Database Developed?
People have been concerned with changes in the climate and their resulting effect on earths biological systems. By recording instances of climate changes, we hope to further our understanding of the changes.What are the objectives of the Database?
- For villages to help villages in keeping informed about climate observations.
- To promote further studies of the climate in subsistence regions.
- To document in a written, central place the differences that people are witnessing. This will help Villages, and university and agency scientists identify specific changes in the environment.
